Ghost village of Asproni.

Its called a ghost village as it was abandoned when the mining closed. We had an interesting day just wandering around the ruins which unfortunately have been robbed of many original things, but we were able to imagine how life must have been back in its mining era. We even met the owners who have inherited this wonderful museum of life, their plan is to just make it safe and leave it as a natural museum for all to see. I took many photos but to many to post all, so here are just a few. I hope you can imagine how it was as the village was complete with school, bakers, butchers, hairdresser, church, miners homes, it had an Eri feeling like we were being watched.

The village was complete in its day and would have been full of miners and their machinery at the Ghost village Asproni

The views close by were exceptional to say the least, it must have been a pleasure to have worked and live in this village.

From the top of the hill you can see Montiponi which was one of the biggest mines in Europe in its day. Also now a ghost village and mine.
